Dr. Safavian uses his education, years of experience, and a wide array of techniques and tools to improve or restore a person’s smile. Before deciding to undergo any type of cosmetic procedure, the doctor wants you to be fully aware of the benefits and risks involved in any of the procedures you chose. During an initial consultation, he will work to ensure that you know how much each process costs, what to expect during the procedure, and whether any special maintenance will be needed afterward.
Teeth often become stained or discolored over time, especially after taking certain medications, smoking, and drinking coffee or tea. Your dentist uses a chemical process along with a custom mouth tray to whiten your teeth in as little as one hour-long session.
If there is excess spacing between your teeth, bonding can often improve your teeth's appearance. This is also helpful for teeth that are cracked, chipped, broken, or stained. Small cavities and exposed roots can also be protected with bonding. This process is usually accomplished in a single office visit.
Typically made of porcelain, a veneer covers the front surface of your teeth to change their shape and/or color. This process lasts longer than bonding and is less expensive than crowns. Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory, so this procedure requires a second visit to have them placed by the dentist.
Sometimes called caps, a crown covers a tooth completely to restore its normal shape and appearance. Crowns can be made from ceramic materials, resins, metal, or porcelain fused to metal. Because of the cost of crowns, they are usually only suggested when other procedures will not produce the result you desire.
This procedure involves contouring or removing enamel to improve the appearance of your teeth. This process is often combined with bonding and used to alter the position, length, or shape of teeth to correct irregularities.
